South Wall

Above the doorway is a representation of the burial of Saint Catherine by AngeIs on Mount Sinai. To the right of the doorway is a tall figure in a tunic and voluminous mantle, the hood of which is drawn over his head. He is bearded and nimbed, and holds a book in both hands, his right being veiled by his mantle. The figure probably represents Saint Bernard holding the Book of Rule of his Order, the Divine Origin of which is suggested by the veiling of the hand.  The only other traces of painting on this wall are those of another tall figure on the east of the doorway
